Off to the mountains: Schaeffler and Mike Rockenfeller in Austria
Time:19 May,2016
Just two weeks following its opener at Hockenheim, the DTM will be holding rounds three and four of the season at Spielberg this weekend (May 21 and 22). Not only for Mike Rockenfeller from Audi Sport Team Phoenix and his Schaeffler Audi RS 5 DTM this race weekend will be a special one, as the Red Bull Ring, with an average speed of about 185 km/h is the fastest circuit on the DTM calendar. It is located only some 160 kilometers from the company headquarters of Schaeffler Austria GmbH in Berndorf-St. Veith and offers a unique Alpine setting.
The prerequisites for Rocky are good. The 4.326-kilometer circuit suits the Audi RS 5 DTM. Last year, the near-460-hp race car took two pole positions and two victories in Styria. Schaeffler has fond memories of Spielberg. In 2011, the first year of the successful partnership between Schaeffler and Audi, Martin Tomczyk won in his green-yellow Schaeffler Audi. It was a cornerstone for the subsequent title win.
