Auto supplier expanding in Steuben County, adding jobs

FREMONT, Ind. (WANE) A fastener manufacturer based in Michigan plans to expand its facility in Fremont, Indiana which could result in the creation of up to 30 new jobs by 2019.
Cold Heading Company has already broken ground on a $12.5 million expansion at its 22-acre campus located at 900 Cassell Drive. The expansion will double the the current size of the facilities.
“Indiana is home to the highest concentration of manufacturing jobs in the nation, helping our state add more than 136,000 Hoosier jobs in just the last three years,” said Victor Smith, Indiana Secretary of Commerce. “The industry’s rich history here has created a strong and skilled Hoosier workforce, building products here in Indiana that are shipped across the country and around the world. Combined with the state’s central location and strong business climate, it’s clear why companies like Cold Heading Company are choosing Indiana to create new manufacturing jobs.”
Cold Heading Company’s growth will allow it to add additional manufacturing capacity to produce its fasteners, with demand increasing by 20 percent from customers around the world including Ford, Chrysler, Nissan and General Motors.
Cold Heading Company currently employs more than 800 associates across three states, including 130 employees at its Fremont facility and an additional 45 people at its Hudson, Indiana facility. As part of its growth, the company is currently hiring machine operators, toolroom associates and repair technicians, with positions expected to pay above the average Steuben County wage.
