Walter adds a new countersink option to its TC620 Supreme thread milling cutter lineup with a multiple-row design for low cutting forces and excellent dimensional accuracy. The new thread milling cutters feature a countersink that produces 90° chamfers by means of an axial movement. The new addition to TC620 Supreme line enables producing thread sizes of M3 to M20, M4×0.5 to M20×1.5, UNC 8 to UNC 3/4, UNF 10 to UNF 3/4, and G 1/16 to G 1/2. Thread depths of up to 3 × DN are possible within this range. The thread milling cutter also incorporates the Walter DeVibe technology for vibration damping from M4, MF4, UNC 8, UNF 8, and G 1/16. DeVibe technology enables reliable machining even in extreme or unstable conditions. The thread mill is suitable for producing blind-hole and through-hole threads in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and heat-resistant super alloys up to 48HRC in hardness (ISO P, M, K, N, and S material groups). The cutting tool is ideal for achieving strict requirements on process reliability, such as when threading expensive components. The TC620 Supreme thread mill features an internal coolant supply for reliable chip evacuation at high feeds per tooth. Walter’s WB10TJ grade achieves the best performance when thread milling many different workpiece materials. The strategy for applying the tool requires positioning the milling cutter over the core hole followed by plunging and countersinking. The cutter is then lifted up before machining an entry loop. A thread is produced using helical interpolation until the row spacing is bridged followed by an exit loop. The TC620 Supreme enables a low cost per thread thanks to a fast-machining time and long tool life. Users will experience a high level of process reliability and easy handling due to extremely infrequent radius corrections. The Walter lineup of products consists of three categories to its tools. Supreme indicates the highest level of technology and performance available. Perform tools are products that provide an economical solution with focused importance on price, and Advance which indicates product efficiently balanced between price and performance.
